Frontline employees are doing the work every day, seeing opportunities and hearing concerns from customers. Montgomery County Department of Job and Family Services took a deliberate approach to tapping into this employee knowledge in the fall of 2017, with the creation of our Culture of Collaboration initiative. Teams shared ideas they had generated to improve customer service and unit collaboration. The clear number one choice from this process was Job and Family Services On the Move (OTM). It was a simple idea that would prove to be incredibly impactful. Many clients have physical challenges, transportation challenges, social anxiety, or other issues that make it hard for them to receive services at our massive Job Center. With our JFS On the Move team, we would take eligibility specialists to nursing homes, community centers, churches and other places where we could help customers.
