About the Program

Category: Human Services (Best in Category)

Year: 2013

The Fathers as Providers program works to help fathers find meaningful employment, strengthen families, educate fathers on their role, advance the value of fatherhood, increase rates of Colorado Works Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Work Participation, enhance child wellbeing outcomes and build community collaborations. The Fathers as Providers program is a service of the Center on Fathering, and collaboration with the El Paso County Department of Human Services (DHS) Colorado Works TANF Division, Discover Goodwill, and the Pikes Peak Workforce Center. We actively seek other community-based and business interests to partner with us. Outcomes of the program include an increase in the work participation rate for TANF participants, successful placement of participants in stable employment, an increase in overall Center on Fathering involvement by participants and improved child well-being outcomes. This program is based on our Agency’s Service Integration philosophy which states that services to families are those that best integrate the strengths of a variety of services and resources. By educating fathers on their role and helping them find meaningful employment the program serves as a preventative measure for child abuse and neglect.
