The Evening Reporting Center (ERC) opened in September 2015 as a community-based alternative to incarceration for juvenile probationers. The mission of the ERC is to decrease the recidivism rate by providing the community-based alternative as well as working towards the Clark County Department of Juvenile Justice Services’ goal to achieve equity within the juvenile justice continuum. The ERC combines day programming with intensive community supervision and services to youth and families. Youth participate in a variety of rehabilitative programs, academic enrichment activities, special projects, and philanthropy projects. The programming focuses on tutoring, drug education, and conflict resolution, and social skills. As a result of the structure of the ERC, juvenile probationers are held accountable in community settings that teach them that their behavior is wrong. The ERC incorporates restorative justice practices that promote community connectedness, not isolation. The results from the ERC are a true community investment.
