Embracing diversity and promoting inclusion and equity is an integral part of the values and mission of the Education & Training Center (Ed Center). One way that the Ed Center has aimed to further this mission is through its training and outreach program. However, in response to the murder of George Floyd and a wave of other systemic injustices, an increased number of organizations began to request training, consultation, and outreach in order to effectively provide support to marginalized people and advocate for justice and equity. The Ed Center’s Equity and Diversity Program was developed to meet this growing need in the community. The program offers free trainings to multidisciplinary professionals in Palm Beach County (PBC) and outreach to youth, families, and various community organizations. The program has also been featured on local news outlets and has developed written materials related to the advancement of equity and inclusion. While the Ed Center’s Equity and Diversity Program was developed in response to a pandemic of racism and social injustice, the tremendously positive response to the program has resulted in a program that is able to function as a proactive intervention in the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
