In January 2021, DeKalb County Police Department, in partnership with the DeKalb Police Athletic League Plus (PAL Plus) and Georgia Piedmont Technical College, created the Career Development Program (CDP). CPD is a four-month information program that seeks to provide DeKalb County Students with structured workshops to gain essential life and career skills through hands-on experience and provide opportunities to learn about a variety of career fields. In the program, peace officers utilized community policing practices to enhance community ties through academic support and provide opportunities for students to develop interpersonal skills, college prep, base level introduction to higher education, and a variety of career fields.
