Dayton Regional Green 3 is an umbrella organization formed by Montgomery County, Ohio, in partnership with the University of Dayton, the Chamber of Commerce and Heapy Engineering working on promoting and improving sustainability and energy effectiveness throughout an 8 county region in south west Ohio. In the fall of 2007, Montgomery County Commissioners convened a forum of local citizens, government, and business leaders to identify strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote greener practices. From the initial meetings, the name Dayton Regional Green and the DRG3 label were developed in an effort to open the Task Forceâs efforts to include all of the Dayton Region and not limit it to Montgomery County; to promote greener practices in the government, residential, and business sector. DRG3 aims to be the recognizable sustainability organization for the Dayton region. The program takes inventory of existing green initiatives, and adopts new ones to fill gaps to create a portfolio that includes both relatively easy âlow-hanging fruitâ initiatives as well as more difficult, ambitious initiatives that will stretch our boundaries but will deliver signiï¬cant long-term energy reductions, cost savings, and environmental beneï¬ts in an effort to create healthier environments to work, live, and learn.
