The Crawford Walking Trail is a beautiful one-quarter mile paved walking path located in the Crawford Community of rural Russell County, Alabama. The walking path was constructed on a piece of overgrown rural land that once was a beautiful home site with large pecan trees and grassy fields. Over the years, the home was removed and the land fell victim to vines and weeds that even covered the trees. The purpose of the project was to provide an outdoor walking, running and fitness facility for citizens of all ages, eliminating the need to drive miles in any direction to find other community parks or walking paths. Through the support of the Russell County Commission, the Crawford Park Committee, grants and many volunteers, the project has proven to be a huge success and transformed the area in the process. The area is marked with a beautiful white diamond rail fence and has a dedicated parking area for people to come enjoy the outdoors while taking steps to be healthy. On the third Saturdays from May to October, the walking trail is host to the Crawford Market Days where local farmers and crafters set up and sell their items at no cost.
