The mission of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (DPH) is to protect health, prevent disease, and promote the health and wellbeing of everyone in Los Angeles County. The rapid spread of COVID cases brought fear, confusion, and a multitude of questions from LA County residents, healthcare providers, businesses, schools, and others. The County was inundated with callers unable to reach a live operator. To respond in a timely manner to COVID-related inquiries and provide stakeholders and LA County residents with credible, trusted health information and resources to reduce the spread of COVID infection and create better-informed and healthier communities, DPH led the creation of the Countywide Unified COVID-19 Call Center Network, which over the course of 3 years has responded to more than 2.3 million COVID-19-related calls and saved countless lives.
