Year: 2011

Under the leadership of Diane Mckeel, Multnomah County Commissioner, District 4, a plan has been formulated to create an integrated, collaborative system of a care that brings together programs specifically designed for commercially sexually exploited children (CSEC), and the capacity to annually serve 125 victims, ages 12-17. A planning work group made up of representatives from the non-profit and public service provider community, law enforcement and private foundations produced a system that will provide culturally and gender specific outreach, assertive engagement, shelter, housing, and other support services designed to move the girls from being victims, to survivors, to leaders. In addition, the work group expects that this system will set Multnomah County’s road map for all current and future funding priorities for these victims, and become a national model for replication in other communities.
