In 2021, Zoo Miami opened the Conservation Action Center, the first-ever indoor, interactive exhibit on conservation and the importance of zoos in that ever evolving story. Each of its six interactive areas explore the connections we all have to conservation and how it impacts our everyday lives. Guests will learn what they have in common with a polar bear and can crawl through a larger than life python while learning about the impacts of invasive species. Scoop the “poop” into compost bins and whack out environmental threats in Habitat Whack-A-Mole. Touch a “robo-frog” and see how they help save frogs in the Amazon. Explore the shared habitat house to see how the things we do everyday in our own homes can impact the ecosystem around us and experience how environments come to life with a pledge to take action on behalf of wildlife. Zoo Miami is an entity if the Miami Dade County Parks Recreation and Open Spaces Department and is the only subtropical zoo in the continental US. The Zoo is one of the largest zoos in the country and was rated one of the top 10 Zoos in the US.
