In 2008 the Chandler Heights Road Bridge at Sonoqui Wash was completed. This is not only part of the improved road network in the metropolitan area, but also an important part of the Flood Control District Sonoqui Wash Channelization Project and Town of Queen Creek equestrian recreation trail. It was first, in-house designed post-tensioned bridge and first in-house designed to the new Load and Resistance Factor Design Bridge Design Specifications in 2007. Post-tensioning was chosen as a means to reduce the amount of reinforcing bars needed, to minimize the visual invasion to the privacy of neighboring homes and to provide an aesthetically pleasing structure to the community. Open space under the bridge provides a comfortable equestrian trail. Aesthetic treatment was provided with the financial partnership of the Town of Queen Creek. The project was designed and constructed in close coordination with the simultaneously designed and constructed Flood Control District project of Sonoqui Wash Channelization, which removed dozens of homes from the Sonoqui Wash floodplain.
