Los Angeles County Workforce Development, Aging and Community Services (WDACS) has partnered with the Probation department to serve youth prior to release from detention at Juvenile Camps and Halls and continue services as the youth transition to the community. The program is the flagship of the youth partnership between both departments known as the Camp to Community Transition. The purpose of the project is to better equip youth with the tools and experiences needed to succeed in the workforce. The program consists of subsidized soft skills training and work experience. The program provides the wrap-around services or referrals a youth may need through the WDACS provider network. Youth are afforded the opportunity to participate in work experience both, during detention and in the community. Youth leave detention with wages earned, which aids in their transition to the community. WDACS network of providers ensures continued services upon release. The program was started in July 2017.
