About the Program

Category: Libraries (Best in Category)

Year: 2018

Early learners need a safe, fun and enriching atmosphere where they can explore, learn and develop skills that will improve their school readiness. Broward County Library’s Active Learning Center provides such a space, filled with toys and activities that children and parents alike can enjoy and share. Unlike other local children’s indoor educational play spaces which charge an admission fee, the Active Learning Center is free so all of the children in the community have open access to its resources. Modeled after a quaint small town, the Active Learning Center features child-sized replicas of stores, a kitchen, a boat and a train and more. Children can also access fun, educational computer games and activities at the Center’s AWE Early Learning Stations. The Active Learning Center hosts free events and programs throughout the week including story times, baby and toddler yoga classes, S.T.E.M. activities and arts and crafts workshops.
