The Lake County Chief County Assessment Office (CCAO), in conjunction with Information Technology, launched a new online Property Tax Assessment Appeal System that achieves new levels of service, brings stakeholder convenience and transparency, and a scope of information and options to the public's computer desktop previously only available by a physical trip to the county seat. The Chief County Assessment Office staff also serves as the staff for the Lake County Board of Review and thus manages the assessment appeal process for the Board. The goal of the program was to create efficiencies for all stakeholders in the assessment appeal process for Lake County, Illinois. Included in the group of stakeholders were: the property owners in Lake County, Lake Chief County Assessment Office staff, the Lake County Board of Review, township assessors and their staff members, our internal IT staff, along with taxing district representatives. The overall result is the first comprehensive e-filing assessment appeal application in the State of Illinois.
