The Blendon Community Plan is a guide for the future development of Blendon Township located in Franklin County, Ohio. The plan is a comprehensive public policy document intended to revitalize neighborhoods, promote active transportation, and facilitate economic development and job growth in Blendon Township. The plan includes recommendations for the community’s future on a range of topics, such as housing, neighborhood revitalization, environmental protection, economic development, and active transportation. Along with recommendations for the future, the plan lays out a series of action steps to ensure that the plan is implemented. The Blendon Count Plan was developed with extensive input from citizens, business owners, township leaders, and county officials. The plan outlines a comprehensive vision for the Blendon Township’s future, and provides the community with the necessary tools to be able to achieve it. Since the Plan was adopted in May 2010, both Franklin County and Blendon Township have been hard at work implementing the plan, showing measurable results less than one year after the document was completed. The plan’s three primary themes: Safe Neighborhoods, Complete Streets, and Economic Growth have fostered such results as new development standards for commercial developments; new accessibility and energy efficiency standards for homes built and rehabilitated with public funds; Improvements to local parks; the establishment of a local farmer’s market; the installation of new sidewalks; and new shared-roadway bikeways for motorist and cyclist safety.
