Faced with a mounting need to distribute county records regarding a growing number of foreclosed properties each month, the Bexar County Foreclosure Map Website was developed under the leadership and guidance of Gerard C. Rickhoff. Using GIS technology, the application maps the location of the monthly foreclosure notices, and essentially places all the public county data for each property in one place. The web application is currently averaging 22,000 visitors monthly from across the nation. The map has served to provide support for returning foreclosed properties to the tax base and ease the burden on county staff.
