Miami-Dade County has developed an Animal Abuser Registry to be used by both the public and its internal Animal Services Department to identify persons who have been convicted of animal cruelty within Miami-Dade County. One of the main goals of this initiative is to prohibit animal cruelty offenders from owning or adopting an animal.Within the past few years, several Florida counties have launched online Animal Abuser Registries. In favor of this cause, an Animal Abuser Registry was developed for Miami-Dade County to be used by both the public and the Animal Services Department where persons convicted of animal cruelty can be identified. The Miami-Dade County Animal Abuser Registry contains information on persons convicted with felony and misdemeanor animal abuse and cruelty offenses. It is for public access and awareness. Most importantly, the registry helps entities and individuals involved in the sale or adoption of animals identify offenders during the vetting process.
