Biography

Ashley Stevens is a Gerontological Social Worker and Program Coordinator for NC Project C.A.R.E. through Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services. Ms. Stevens implements and leads training/education for community organizations and the general public to increase understanding of aging, dementia, and caregiving. Additionally, in her work, she serves as Co-Chair of the Dementia Friendly Charlotte Mecklenburg Initiative in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Ms. Stevens earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Gerontology from Bowling Green State University and her Master of Social Work degree and Graduate Gerontology Certificate from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is a board certified clinical social worker (LCSW) through the state of North Carolina. Ms. Stevens also has a deep passion for increasing awareness for diverse aging communities and has her Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion certification through the University of South Florida. This passion has also led to the development of her personal Blog platform entitled, “The Dementia Guru,” where she shares her knowledge and personal experience with dementia and caregiving.
