About Thomas Cooney
Tom Cooney has over 23 years of experience in water and wastewater infrastructure. Tom has been part of the EPA Region 6 Water Division since June 2021. Prior to that, Tom worked in EPA Region 4 in Atlanta in the Water Division as the program coordinator for the Special Appropriations and SRF programs. Tom’s current duties include oversight of the New Mexico Clean Water SRF program and regional lead on the new Congressionally Directed Spending projects.
Before his time at the EPA, Tom worked for 10 years in private engineering consulting services and performed planning, design, and construction management activities for major wastewater, stormwater, and drinking water projects in the Northeastern United States. Tom has a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Engineering degree in Environmental Engineering.
Tom is currently a licensed professional engineer in New York and Georgia (pending for Texas).
