Sean Thurman
Director of Global Public Policy, Walmart
About Sean Thurman
As Director of Global Public Policy at Walmart, Sean serves as an advisor to the business on public policy matters related to workforce and employment, and leads strategic efforts on these issues with the company’s government relations, public affairs, and communications teams.
Sean has spearheaded research to explore the challenges and opportunities around the future of work – a complex topic that Walmart, other companies, policymakers, academics, and the country as a whole are facing today. That research produced Walmart’s America at Work report, which examined community resiliency by better understanding the more than 3,000 counties across the United States in terms of their resiliency – specifically, the capacity to address workforce change.
Prior to joining Walmart, Sean served as Policy Advisor to Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP). Prior to his work on Capitol Hill, Sean served as Director of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs for Associated Builders and Contractors. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Missouri.
