About Mr. Jason LaTorre

Jason LaTorre has worked for Global Affairs Canada for 17 years. Prior to his current assignment in Washington D.C., Mr. LaTorre served as Trade Commissioner in Singapore (2003-2006) and as Senior Trade Commissioner in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (2007-2010). He has also held various positions at headquarters in Ottawa, where he contributed to new programs and initiatives to support the global competitiveness of Canadian industry.  

Mr. LaTorre has been recognized for his contributions in advancing Canadian commercial interests internationally and for service excellence.  Awards include:  Canadian Foreign Service Officer of the Year Award (2009), the Deputy Ministers’ Award of Excellence (2013) and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal (2013).

Mr. LaTorre obtained his Bachelor Degree (with honors) in International Business from the University of Victoria in British Columbia, and his Masters Degree in International Affairs from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario.

Mr. LaTorre has two daughters, Maya and Madison, aged 10 and 8.
