About Lynne LaPlante
Lynn LaPlante is a member of the DuPage County Board for District 4. She is committed to making DuPage County one of the best places in the United States to work, raise a family and enjoy a strong quality of life. During her first term, Lynn accomplished several initiatives and actions that have positively impacted the county.
In her role as Chair of the Community Development Committee, Lynn successfully passed a $5 million initiative to fund the county's first-ever permanent homeless shelter. Additionally, she served as Vice-Chair of Collective Bargaining, negotiating a fair agreement for the employees of the DuPage County Care Center. As a member of the Health Equity and Access Response Team (HEART) Task Force, Lynn played a vital role in building vaccine confidence in underserved communities. She was instrumental in the development of two highly visible and successful public service announcements (PSAs), targeting hard-to-reach populations and encouraging vaccination among hesitant residents.
Lynn's appointment to the DuPage County Board of Health has allowed her to focus on important initiatives including recognizing the positive connection between mental health outcomes and the arts and advocating for the integration of arts into mental health programs. Driven by the economic potential of the arts, Lynn created and chaired the Ad Hoc Fine Arts Committee, fostering a bipartisan effort that gained support from the private sector. This collaboration with local and state leaders focused on driving economic development through the arts.
Lynn's vision and leadership led to the successful implementation of the Inaugural DuPage Community Arts Festival. This revenue-positive event showcased an intentionally inclusive and diverse group of artists and presenters, contributing to the county's cultural vibrancy. Through her efforts in establishing public-private partnerships, Lynn secured architectural renderings for a state-of-the-art performing arts center on County-owned land. This initiative has the potential to further enhance the county's cultural landscape.
Outside of her role in the county board, Lynn serves on various boards including Arts DuPage, Wheaton Art, Business & Culture Committee and the Illinois Arts Leadership Council through Illinois Arts Alliance.
