About Lauren Baker
Lauren M. Baker serves as a Professional Staff Members for Ranking Member Shelley Moore Capito on the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works handling surface transportation policy.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Baker served as a Senior Policy Advisor to former Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the Federal Transit Administration. Previously, she served as a Senior Advisor for Policy, Government and Public Affairs at that the Federal Highway Administration. Prior to joining DOT, Ms. Baker served as the Advocacy Director at the Cypress Group and prior to that role served as the lead financial services policy advisor to Senator Rob Portman. Prior to her work in the Senate, Ms. Baker worked at State Farm Insurance, serving as a liaison between Corporate HQ and Agency Field Operations on innovative auto industry trends and programs.
Ms. Baker started her career in Washington with the American Land Title Association. Ms. Baker earned her BA in Political Science from John Carroll University in Ohio and currently resides in Bethesda, Maryland with her husband and two sons.
