About Janie Thompson

Janie Thompson has spent her career engaging Congress, the Executive Branch, industry and stakeholder groups to advance practical clean energy policy solutions and mitigate the threat of climate change. She was most recently the Subcommittee Staff Director for the Investigations & Oversight Subcommittee of the U.S. House Committee on Science, Space, & Technology under Chairwoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX). Previously she worked as a lobbyist at Cassidy & Associates, where she advocated for clean energy and advanced technology priorities before federal policymakers. Prior to her work in the private sector, Thompson served under the Obama Administration as a Special Assistant in the DOE Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs. She also served on the staff of the Energy & Environment Subcommittee of the U.S. House Science & Technology Committee under Chairman Bart Gordon (D-TN). A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, Thompson earned a B.A. from Sewanee: The University of the South and M.S. in Engineering Management and Systems Engineering from The George Washington University. She resides in Washington D.C. with her husband and three children.
