U.S. Congresswoman (D-N.M.)
Hon. Xochitl Torres Small represents New Mexico's 2nd Congressional District, the largest non-at-large district in the United States. Hon. Torres Small served as U.S. Senator Tom Udall's first field representative in southern New Mexico, working on issues with local stakeholders from rural broadband and healthcare access to economic development and border security. She helped plan Sen. Udall's first statewide water conference and later attended the University of New Mexico's law school where she concentrated on water and natural resources law. Following receiving her juris doctoris, Hon. Torres Small worked for U.S. District Court Judge Robert Brack and provided pro bono legal counsel at a homeless shelter, later working as a water attorney with Kemp Smith. She was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in January 2019.
