Hon. Maryann Moreno

Judge Maryann Moreno was appointed by Governor Gary Locke to the Superior Court bench in 2003. Since then she has served as Presiding Judge for 4 years and has been involved in criminal justice reforms since 2010. Her career includes;

Spokane County Public Defender, 1983-1989; private practice, 1989-2003. She has numerous professional affiliations and state committee experience including chair of the Presiding Judge Education Committee, Pattern Jury Instruction Committee, Sentencing Guidelines Committee and Criminal Rules Committee.  She currently serves on the 3 Days Count initiative and chairs the Pretrial Risk Assessment Committee.  She has been a tireless leader in the reform efforts of the Spokane regional criminal justice system.  In partnership with the Safety & Justice challenge grant, Judge Moreno is currently working closely with our technical providers, and the National Center for State Courts to lead best practices in the local court systems.
