    Commissioner Kitty Barnes has been a Catawba County Commissioner since 1998. Within NACo, she chairs the Resilient Counties Advisory Board, is vice chair of the Environment, Energy and Land Use Steering Committee and  is a member of the Financial Services Center Advisory Board. She served as North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) president in 2005-06, and was named the NCACC’s Outstanding County Commissioner in 2007. In 2016, she was inducted into the NCACC Hall of Fame.
