Hon. George Dunlap

Commissioner George Dunlap became NACo Second Vice President on July 15, 2024. . He currently serves on the Board of County Commissioners of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Previously, Commissioner Dunlap served 14 years as the District 3 representative for the Charlotte Mecklenburg School Board. He formerly served as chairman of the County’s Effective and Efficient Government Committee, a member of the Public Safety Committee, a member of the Economic Development Committee, and as the liaison to the Mecklenburg County Fire Commission. He is a former DARE Officer with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. 

Commissioner Dunlap received his master’s degree in public administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2003. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from UNC Charlotte in 1991.
