About Hon. Bruce Dammeier
County Executive Bruce Dammeier was elected as Pierce County, Washington county executive in 2016 and re-elected in November 2020. He served in the Washington State Senate from 2013 – 2016, in the Washington State House of Representatives from 2009 – 2013 and on the Puyallup School Board from 2001 – 2009. He is a member of the Tacoma #8 Rotary Club, University Place Presbyterian Church and serves on the University of Washington-Tacoma Advisory Board. He previously served on the Tacoma Goodwill Board of Directors, Mel Korum YMCA Advisory Council, and on the boards of the Puyallup Valley Young Life, Good Samaritan Hospital and Our Savior Lutheran Church. County Executive Dammeier has a masters of science in engineering from the University of Washington and a bachelors of science in ocean engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy. After graduating with distinction from the U.S. Naval Academy, he served for eight years as a Civil Engineer Corps Officer, deploying on humanitarian missions across the United States and worldwide. As well as serving as a Pierce County Executive, he is a small business owner and dedicated community volunteer.
