About Hon. Brad Carlyon

Brad Carlyon has served as Navajo County Attorney since 2008. He was honored nationally as the 2011 and 2016 County Attorney of the Year by WeTip for fighting drug trafficking and abuse, establishing the Navajo County Domestic Violence Court, leading the effort to establish Family Advocacy Centers in Show Low and Holbrook and his leadership in instituting innovative approaches to fighting and treating substance abuse. Brad was also honored state-wide as the Leader of the Year in Public Policy for Criminal Justice by the Arizona Capital Times in 2012 and 2016 for his leadership in creating the Navajo County Homicide Task Force and also an Arson Task Force and for his innovative leadership in addressing effective treatment and prevention of alcohol-related issues. Brad previously served as Chief Deputy County Attorney in Apache County and as a Deputy County Attorney in Navajo County, and began his career in private law. Brad served as a Navajo County Superior Court Judge pro tem for over three years. Brad serves as vice-chair of the Arizona Prosecuting Attorney’s Advisory Council, is a past President of the Arizona Association of Counties, is a member of the Arizona State Council on the Interstate Compact for the Supervision of Adult Offenders and serves on the National Association of Counties Justice and Public Safety Committee. Brad is President of the Navajo County Family Resource Center and Chair of the AACo Foundation. He was raised in Payson, earned a BS in Business Administration-Finance from Northern Arizona University before graduating magna cum laude from the University of Arizona College of Law.
