About Ed Gilliland
Ed Gilliland is the senior director for The Solar Foundation. His focus includes the Solsmart municipal and county designations, American Cities Climate Challenge, Solar Automated Permit Processing, Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy, Solar Ready Vets and the National Solar Jobs Census. He was principal author for the 2015 – 2018 National Solar Jobs Census reports and the 2017 Solar Schools report. Prior to joining The Solar Foundation, Ed was Vice President at the International Economic Development Council where he managed their Advisory Services and Research Department. He directed all local, state, federal, and international consulting work, completing over 80 projects in 65 cities and regions. He’s a certified planner, economic development professional and project management professional. He holds two master’s degrees from the University of Virginia, including an MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.
