Dr. Mary Anderson

Dr. Mary Anderson is a Medical Director for Aetna where she supports clinicians for multiple programs including on the National Accounts Care Management teams. She collaborates with clinicians from Aetna medical teams, network staff, facility staff, and Plan Sponsors; focusing on the development of quality care in behavioral health. Dr. Anderson graduated from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and began her residency in psychiatry at Timberlawn Psychiatric Residency Program, then transferred to the Austin Psychiatric Residency Program where she graduated. She is board certified in psychiatry. She was in private practice from 1994 until 2018 in combination with work in forensic psychiatry and consultation-liaison psychiatry at the major public hospital in Austin, Texas. She was an attending psychiatrist at The University Medical Center Brackenridge with the routine opportunity to teach residents and medical students on the team. She worked with student athletes as a psychiatrist for the University of Texas Athletics Department for 20 years and was with the MHNet/Coventry team prior to coming to Aetna in 2016.
