About Detrick Stanford
Detrick Stanford currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Clayton County. Prior to his appointment as COO in 2015, he served as the Director of Clayton County Parks and Recreation from May 2007 to April 2015, and was in the Parks and Recreation profession for over twenty years, encompassing a variety of experiences in the field of leisure services. He also served as the Policy Planner and Legislative Liaison for the Clayton County Board of Commissioners. Detrick served on the Board and as a lecturer for the Supervisors Management School, and is called upon frequently to speak around the Country. Detrick serves on several Boards to include Chair of the Board of Directors for the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and Past-President of the Georgia Recreation and Park and Association (GRPA). Mr. Stanford graduated from Georgia Southern with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1996 and a Masters of Public Administration degree with an emphasis in Public Management from Troy State University 2004. He earned a Masters of Public Administration degree from the University of Georgia in Learn, Leadership and Organization Development in 2020. He also holds a position on the Advisory Boards of several other non-profit organizations. Detrick is an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and in 2017 he was inducted into the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration (AAPRA), an organization of distinguished practitioners and scholars committed to the advancement of the park and recreation field. He is also a member of the Huie Foundation.
