Tell your county’s story by completing Medicaid and SNAP surveys

As the front line of the social safety net, counties make significant investments in health and well-being to support our most vulnerable residents. To better inform our understanding of the county role in administering Medicaid services and how counties can strengthen coordination between the Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the National Association of Counties (NACo) invites county health and human services officials to complete two research surveys:

    1. NACo County Medicaid and Behavioral Health Services Survey

Counties are an integral part of the federal-state-local-partnership in the Medicaid program, the largest source of health coverage in the United States. Counties are both implementers and innovators of local Medicaid services, in addition to helping states finance and administer the program. This survey will help guide NACo's federal advocacy efforts on Medicaid and effectively relay counties' critical role in delivering health care services to residents. Click here to take the survey.

    Email bbryant@naco.org with any questions.

    2. Benefits Data Trust (BDT) and the Center for Health Care Strategies (CHCS) Medicaid and SNAP Survey

Counties are also responsible for administering the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in 10 states representing more than one-third of total program participants. To explore strategies for Medicaid and SNAP to more effectively share data to improve access to services, our partners at the Benefits Data Trust and the Center for Health Care Strategies invite counties with jurisdiction over Medicaid and/or SNAP to share your perspectives. Survey findings will inform actionable policy and practice recommendations as well as practical case studies and technical assistance opportunities. Click here to complete the survey by July 13.
