Category: Civic Education and Public Information (Best in Category)

Year: 2015

In 2014, the County of Summit designed a work experience through its Summer Youth Employment for Success (YES) program to help raise awareness about dog licenses. The “Doggie Brigade” program increased awareness about the importance of dog licenses and gave dog owners an easy way to purchase or renew a license. For 12 weeks (June, July, and August), supervised teams of teens that were enrolled in the YES program walked neighborhoods distributing “door hangers” reminding people to license their dogs. The “door hangers” had an application printed on one side and the benefits of licensing a dog and a warning that it’s the law to license dogs printed on the other side.
