The Maricopa County Workforce Development Division (WDD) partnership model began in April of 2016. The model enables one full time workforce development employee to be dedicated and housed in a town, city, or municipality serving a specific population within the County. In the past, WDD has absorbed the entire cost of workforce operations. The partnership model allows cities, towns and county divisions outside of WDD to share the cost of an employee and appropriate work space, allowing them to be dedicated to the workforce development needs of the partner within the local community. The key to the partnership model is that the shared cost, physical connectivity to the community through a satellite location and intimate relationships with partner leadership allows the Workforce Development Coordinator (WDC) to identify the unique needs of the population. Services are highly individualized to local communities and specific populations based off needs and gaps identified by partners.Workforce services provided by a dedicated WDC in partner specific communities and populations include:•Linkage between job seekers and business resulting in job placements •Career fairs and hiring events targeted to fill job openings in local business•Connectivity to occupational skills training for the job-seeker through Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funding •One-on-one services, such as:oCareer guidanceoResource navigation and community referrals,oResume writing and review,oInterview assistance including mock interviews, and oJob search.
