The WellnessWorks program at Miami-Dade County is committed to promoting and engaging our employees in wellness programming that meets each individual where they are in their wellness journey and encourages them to make small steps to a healthier lifestyle. Employees are the cornerstone of county government and without a healthy employee population we cannot serve our community. Employees, dependents and retirees have access to a wide variety of services, programs, initiatives, educational materials and presentations through the WellnessWorks program. These events promote physical, occupational, social and emotional wellness and bring our employees together to create a healthier workforce and workplace. One successful initiative was our Walk around the World Challenge. This initiative energizes our employees to become more active and focus on their health. The program challenges our employees to focus on nutrition and integrating more movement into their day to enhance their overall Physical Activity. This initiative is a yearlong event focusing on total amount of steps completed by each team with milestones and target destinations around the world. We integrated a team and individual component to the challenge with both tangible and intangible incentives. This event promotes employee and organizational engagement which further cements occupational wellness and satisfaction.
