The San Bernardino County Workforce Development Department has built strong relationships with the K-12 school districts in the county. This partnership has helped to ensure a pipeline for targeted industry sectors that lead to good jobs with strong growth potential. A priority for the Workforce Development Board has been to retain local talent in the region. Traditionally that has been done through participating in high school career fairs. Due to distance learning, this opportunity was going to be lost. Instead, the idea of a targeted industry virtual career fair was developed that introduced employers with current job openings to students, recent graduates and their families. The first event was done with manufacturers, a growing sector in the county.
