To increase the accessibility of workforce services across Los Angeles County, the Department of Workforce Development, Aging and Community Services (WDACS) has developed new online avenues to connect with County residents in new and innovative ways. The expansion of its virtual presence has been branded as the Virtual America’s Job Center of California (AJCC). Through the Virtual AJCC, County residents have unprecedented access to the breadth of employment, training, and business services offered by the workforce development system. Additionally, residents and businesses can more effectively communicate and participate in the County’s workforce development offerings. The Virtual AJCC encompasses two elements that are foundational to its success: a streamlined service delivery model and linkages to the AJCCs and the greater community. Job seekers and businesses alike can find resources related to employment, training, and education. Additionally, the Virtual AJCC employs a vast network for partners, drawing from the greater Los Angeles region to provide a holistic, wrap-around experience for its visitors. Participants can even be directly connected with AJCCs, enrolling in services digitally or meeting with AJCC staff members who can provide personalized guidance, regardless of location. Through the Virtual AJCC, the County has extended a digital bridge to its population. The Virtual AJCC initiative began on April 1, 2020 at the COVID-19 pandemic’s onset.
