About the Program

Category: Risk and Emergency Management (Best in Category)

Year: 2012

Every employer across America has many things to worry about- employees being absent from work is definitely one of them. The Unit Level Early Return to Work Program provides a method for individual units and bureaus within Correctional Services Division to effectively manage employees off work due to industrial injury or illness. The program also addresses the conditions that led to the injury or illness in order to prevent or reduce future occurrences. These methods include comprehensive tracking of the entire history of the injury or illness, regular interaction with the employee and the treating physician, along with measuring the amount of days lost to the injury or illness. A monthly report is generated that lists all the tracked data which enables Department heads to easily interpret the data and make informed decisions on how well a unit or bureau is managing their employees off on industrial injury or illness as compared to other units or bureaus in the division. In the first year of the program a 10% reduction in days lost to industrial injury/illness was achieved.
