“Taking the Mystery out of Retirement” is a semi-annual educational program designed to meet the needs of older adults, especially the baby boomer generation. Baby boomers are facing many different issues regarding retirement which are unlike past generations. The instability of the housing and stock markets has caused many to postpone their retirement. In 2011, the United States saw the first wave of baby boomers turning 65. This population has expected that Social Security and Medicare will take care of them in retirement, but there is an ongoing controversy as to whether these programs are able to handle this growing population. The program addresses the mental and financial aspects of retirement and provides information about possible community resources to assist them.
