About the Program
Category: Human Services (Best in Category)
Year: 2016
The Human Services (HS) LiA program is a formalized network connecting mentors to mentees; however, a standardized curriculum did not exist for LiA participants, resulting in information and experiences varying from person to person. The LiA workshop program provides a structured mentoring and learning environment to ensure training consistency for both Mentors and Mentees, ensuring a consistent message which includes: ⢠Decision making skills, ⢠Global thinking/vision, ⢠Interpersonal skills, and ⢠Relationship building. By recognizing the need to building sound leadership within the organization, TAD capitalized on the HS LiA program by creating a Workshop relevant to TAD specifically. The program consists of Mentees attending several workshops, which include learning the basics of the TAD budget, discussing varying leadership styles, and interview preparation. The program works to foster individual professional development and increase knowledge of department administrative operations, which result in greater productivity, higher retention rates, succession planning, and improved customer service. Since the inception of the TAD LiA Workshop in 2014, the average number of participants has remained consistent from quarter to quarter. Furthermore, participants have reported positive impacts attributed to participation, such as returning to school, receiving a promotion, taking on new duties in their current position, and enhanced interview skills.
