The Storm Water InFormation Tracker (SWIFT) expedites the drainage, storm water, and Best Management Practices (BMP) processes for the Chesterfield County Environmental Engineering department. The web application provides automated process workflow for handling active requests and associated work; leverages GIS technology for address validation, geographic assignment of work, and topographic analysis of the impacted area; uses RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds to allow dynamic display of active work orders on a county map and provides navigation back to the specific request within SWIFT; integrates directly to our document management system to provide quick access to valuable engineering documents for evaluating repairs; generates required inspection notices based on due dates to ensure more than 500 facilities are inspected according to state and federal regulations; and utilizes five enterprise level web services to ensure reusability and eliminate data redundancies. SWIFT positions our business sponsor, the Environmental Engineering department, as a leader in environmental storm water maintenance.
