About the Program

Category: Health (Best in Category)

Year: 2013

Fortunately, the past two years have been “light” in reference to flu activity. However, Baltimore County Department of Health continues to promote vaccination against seasonal flu as a key public health model. Several years ago, Baltimore County Department of Health was recognized both locally and nationally for its innovative methods of encouraging vaccination against the H1N1 influenza virus. Learning from that experience, it was determined that one of our most successful activities to encourage flu vaccination was by holding several simultaneous clinics on one day. The Health Department, in partnership with other county agencies, designated Saturday October 13th, 2012 as Super Saturday in Baltimore County and performed multiple activities leading up to this date to promote vaccination against seasonal flu. The Health Department determined that concentrating all of our flu efforts on one day would provide for efficiency of resources and encourage media promotion of our efforts.
