The Student Congress for J.U.S.T.I.C.E. (Join Us Speaking Together in Creating Equality) program was established as a positive response to a terrible tragedy. The goals of the program are centered upon fostering greater tolerance and understanding among the Suffolk County youth population. The program strives to empower youth to improve their communities by bringing forth social justice. The students work together to develop strategies to acknowledge, understand, and accept that diverse populations reside in Suffolk County. The program focuses on heightening awareness about the need to embrace differences and accept each other for who they are. It underscores the need to appreciate individuality by learning not to judge one another and that hostility, anger, and discrimination create negative outcomes. An additional goal of this program is to empower the student delegates to be leaders in their own communities in striving for tolerance.
