Miami-Dade County’s Information Technology Department (ITD) provides a broad array of IT services as the largest municipal technology provider for County departments, government agencies and municipal partners. ITD serves as a partner in innovation for its customers developing solutions that move the envelope in the digital transformation of government in Miami-Dade. In compliance with the paratransit service provisions of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) provides a shared-ride, door-to-door transportation service called Special Transportation Service (STS) for disabled citizens. Individuals who are certified for the service, are able to make reservations for transportation seven days in advance. STS vehicles are equipped with Mobile Data Terminals (MDT) and Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) equipment to enable real-time dispatching of the fleet. STSConnect.miamidade.gov is a vendor developed responsive website that enables STS clients to make reservations online, view trip details and cancel trips from a personal computer or mobile device. The website also provides clients with real-time estimated time of arrival (ETA) for imminent trips using data from vehicle on-board technology.
