The “Street Level Asset Assessment Imagery (SLAAI)” program is the result of the integration of Earthmine street level imagery and its incorporation with GIS data and software programs. The imagery consists of approximately twenty one million photographs, each containing unique coordinate information, collected at 10 meter intervals over the entire 1,100 miles of roadway in Columbia County, Georgia. It also includes the toolsets that allow for advanced analysis and editing capabilities with the County’s Geographic Information Systems data. Through use of the high quality data and the included software applications, County Staff has access to high resolution panoramic imagery and three dimensional measuring tools for assessing a multi-facet of verifications. The coordinate information attached to each pixel in the individual photographs allows for three dimensional measurements such as depth, height, slope, and distance. Editing GIS data in a three dimensional environment is also now possible, which improves accuracy and allows for quality control of data inventories for optimal asset management. County Staff now performs verifications, assessments, and workforce planning without having to leave their office location. “SLAAI” allows for assessment of commercial and residential structures and is a tool for inventory and analysis of county-owned infrastructure, Emergency Response and Public Safety services, and assessment of the 55,000 tax parcels in the County.
