Opening in August of 2015, the St. Vrain Community Hub is a shining example of what can be achieved through cross-departmental collaboration and working toward a lofty vision. When planning/design teams set forth more than three years ago on designing a new health and human services space, they were driven by a vision of creating a warm, welcoming, and inviting space that would integrate services in one central location. The results are extraordinary! The Hub enhances and connects access to services and is easy for both the public and staff alike to navigate. The look, feel and layout of the building were purposefully designed to focus on welcoming clients to reduce feelings of anxiety. Epitomizing the best in public service, many dedicated staff from across Boulder County departments came together to bring the vision of this space to fruition. Since the August opening, there has been nothing but positive feedback from staff and clients about how inspiring a space the St. Vrain Hub is to work in and to receive services. By focusing on collaboration, idea sharing, policy recommendations, and developing strong relationships, cross-functional teams were able work through the most challenging issues like operationalizing services coordination, integrating cultures from different departments, design decisions, and policy decisions. The Hub is a true community asset whose legacy will remain for decades to come.
