About the Program
Category: Health (Best in Category)
Year: 2017
The St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners is committed to the good health and overall wellness of its employees. In an effort to reduce rising health care costs and promote a healthier lifestyle for our nearly 800 staff members and their families, St. Lucie County created the Wellness Matters program at the start of the 2016 fiscal year. Working with our health provider, CareHere, the goal of this program is to create a culture of health and wellness within St. Lucie County by providing wellness initiative programs and activities throughout the year that engage and encourage employees to develop and/or maintain healthy lifestyles. The county is excited to provide our employees with resources that will allow them to maximize their overall health and well-being, while reducing our health care costs. Studies show an unhealthy workforce creates not only adds preventable costs in health-care claims, but lost productivity and missed days. By offering employees monetary incentives to improve their wellbeing, the county keeps its workforce healthy and saves money in the long-run.
