With all of the new ways to share information using technology, it can be difficult to figure out where to begin. Understanding that Hamilton County’s Department of Job and Family Services needed to “do more with less,” the JFS Communications team started using new ways to share information with agency clients and others via social networking avenues. Starting in 2008, JFS has been very aggressive in New Media techniques including blogging, chatting, video, audiocasts, and many other social media tactics such as Facebook and Twitter. For agency officials, the idea of public relations has not changed. It is still about communicating key messages to key audiences as effectively as possible. However, the tactics used to communicate those messages are changing rapidly, and the messages are being communicated faster than ever. Hamilton County’s Department of Job and Family services has embraced those new tactics and the agency’s brand and image will improve because of it.
